Church Leadership

The Presbyterian Church in Morristown has a rich tradition of leadership. This includes daily leadership by members in every ministry of the church. It also includes guidance of the spiritual life and governance of the church by ordained elders and deacons who are elected by the congregation. The pastoral guidance, program leadership, and administrative support of the church are also led by a team of professional staff.

An important part of Presbyterian tradition is to provide persons with particular gifts to share in discernment of God's Spirit and governance of God's people. The session is comprised of those called into this ministry and elected as elders. Together with the pastors, the session governs the church, providing leadership, spiritual discernment and guidance.

The ministry of the Board of Deacons is one of compassion, witness, and service, sharing in the redeeming love of Jesus Christ for the poor, the hungry, the sick, or anyone in distress. Our deacons, who serve a three year term, work with the staff to provide pastoral care and outreach to members who are homebound or have other needs that call for special attention.

The professional staff of The Presbyterian Church in Morristown are committed to teaching the faith and equipping the saints (members) for the work of ministry. Working in various capacities, they preach the Word, nurture growing families, minister to the spiritual and emotional needs of the congregation, and provide the administrative support to keep the church running smoothly.
