Chaplaincy Program of the Morris County Correctional Facility

/files/Photo and Image Files/Outreach and Mission/photo_jail1.jpgThe Chaplaincy program was formed in 2001 with the hiring of a chaplain to conduct Protestant worship and Bible study on site. Initially funded by The Presbyterian Church in Morristown, St. Peter's Episcopal Church of Morristown and the First Presbyterian Church of New Vernon, approximately 20 local churches and faith-based organizations now help support the program which allows for the services of a fulltime chaplain, whose duties are spiritual counseling, advocating for the needs of the inmates, conducting weekly Bible studies, overseeing clergy visitation and faith-based volunteers, providing for special needs and organizing and overseeing worship services.
