The Worship and Music Committee is offering another Liturgist Training Class on Sunday, April 11 at noon (after the 11:00 a.m. service) in the Sanctuary. This one session class, led by Carolyn Green, will train church members on how to be an effective liturgist. We hope this opportunity will encourage members to participate in worship as lay readers. Please consider this important service to our church for yourself or why not suggest to a fellow member that they attend? Questions? Or to RSVP, please contact Katherine Henckler, a272814@aol.com.

Be a Job Angel! Our church has started a Job Angels program where members of the congregation offer their help to those who are laid off, retired but joining the workforce again, looking for more opportunities or just starting out in the workforce. How can you be a Job Angel? Simply fill out the attached brief contact form and be willing to offer whatever assistance you can.

Our Mom’s Small Group is seeking new members. We meet on the 4th Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m., usually at Howard House. We provide childcare, a relaxed environment and have casual discussions about parenting, marriage and the importance of laying a strong Christian base for our families. Our children range from newborn to age 8. If interested, please contact Kathleen Hoppes at kmhoppes@gmail.com.

The 2010 Lenten season continues a special tradition of our church with personal daily devotions written by members of our church community
. The devotional provides a reading for each day of the Lenten season. This year’s theme is “Sharing the Journey.” It is not too late to pick up your Lenten Devotional at the church or Parish House or download a copy from this website.

Flu Alert from Nurse/Pastor Cindy: The symptoms of H1N1 (swine) flu virus in people are similar to the symptoms of seasonal flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. If you have the flu, we suggest you stay home for 7 days before returning to group activities at church or elsewhere.

How does novel H1N1 virus spread?

Flu viruses are spread mainly from person to person through coughing or sneezing by people with influenza. Sometimes people may become infected by touching something with flu viruses on it and then touching their mouth or nose. People may be contagious from one day before they develop symptoms to up to 7 days after they get sick.

Take these everyday steps to protect your health:
1) Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
2) Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
3) Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
4) Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
5) Stay home if you are sick for 7 days after your symptoms begin or until you have been symptom-free for 24 hours, whichever is longer.
