THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
IN  MORRISTOWN

Churchmail

At this Sunday’s (March 21) 9:15 and 11 a.m. services, Rev. Susan Reisinger will deliver the sermon, “The Cost of Forgiving.” Church School and Sunday Morning Seminar (led by Rev. Alloway) will be held at the Parish House at 9:15 a.m.

The Congregational Health Ministry is happy to present the Labyrinth Prayer Walk during Holy week for all to enjoy. Walking the labyrinth can introduce us to another type of prayer - prayer in motion, instead of prayer in absolute stillness. The Walk will be open in the Parish House gym from Palm Sunday afternoon through Good Friday late afternoon. We hope you will take this opportunity to focus on another path to prayer during Holy Week. For more information contact Nancy Rossman, Nancy Behrendt or Pastor Cindy.

The next gathering of the Church Family Dinner and Fellowship takes place this Friday evening, March 19 at 7:00 p.m. at the Parish House. Lucille Deutsch from Family Service of Morris County will present a program on care giving, entitled, “Caring for Yourself: Why It’s So Important and How to Find the Time to Do It.”

This Fridays-on-the-Green free lunchtime concert on March 19 at 12:15 p.m. at the Church on the Green will feature baritone, Christopher Liew. Dr. Liew will perform Classical Art Songs in three languages. Lunch is available before and after the concerts, catered by C’est Cheese. The final March concert on March 26 will feature soprano, Elise Figa. Watch for more mid-day concerts in May.

Enjoy a wonderful afternoon of music on Sunday, March 21 at 4 p.m. in the Sanctuary at a collage concert featuring individuals and groups from our Music Ministry directed by Julie Ramseyer. Choirs, instrumental ensembles, duets and soloists will perform selections celebrating “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” This nonstop “collage” format is a unique way to showcase the super-abundance of talent in this church.

Please help the Friends of Newark provide food, clothing and Easter baskets to Newark families in need by bringing donations to the Parish House kitchen.
Please also join us in assembling the baskets in the Parish House basement on Saturday, March 27 at 11:00 a.m. (Children too!) Details are provided on the attached flyer. If you have any questions, please contact Jane Nast at janenast@aol.com or Carol Shinnerling at cshinnerling1@optimum.net <mailto:cshinnerling1@optimum.net> .

The Sanctuary will be decorated on Easter Sunday with flowering plants purchased from memorial donations designated for that purpose. If you wish to make a donation, please fill out the attached form and return it to the church office by March 29.

Flu Alert from Nurse/Pastor Cindy: The symptoms of H1N1 (swine) flu virus in people are similar to the symptoms of seasonal flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. If you have the flu, we suggest you stay home for 7 days before returning to group activities at church or elsewhere.

How does novel H1N1 virus spread?

Flu viruses are spread mainly from person to person through coughing or sneezing by people with influenza. Sometimes people may become infected by touching something with flu viruses on it and then touching their mouth or nose. People may be contagious from one day before they develop symptoms to up to 7 days after they get sick.

Take these everyday steps to protect your health:
1) Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
2) Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
3) Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
4) Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
5) Stay home if you are sick for 7 days after your symptoms begin or until you have been symptom-free for 24 hours, whichever is longer.
