Billy Keyserling to Speak on Unity and Diversity: Unpacking America’s Historical Baggage

Billy Keyserling, widely recognized for his collaborative efforts to educate and mobilize community action for the common good, will address the topic Unity and Diversity: Unpacking America’s Historical Baggage on October 22 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Cosponsored by The First Presbyterian Church of New Vernon and The Presbyterian Church in Morristown, the presentation and discussion will take place in at the Morristown Church’s facilities from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 22, located at 57 East Park Place, Morristown, NJ.

A Beaufort, South Carolina native, his public service includes staff positions in the US House and Senate, two terms in the South Carolina state legislature and three terms as mayor of Beaufort, SC where he is still known as Mayor Billy. He retired from elected service to commit his time and financial resources to the establishment of The Reconstruction Era National Park in Beaufort. His other efforts to foster an accurate understanding of Reconstruction as a means of building unity and promoting racial equality include the establishment of the educational non-profit, The Second Founding of America, and his book, Sharing Common Ground: Promises Unfilled but Not Forgotten.

We are honored by Billy’s willingness to share his vast knowledge of history, public affairs and public policy with our communities’ members. All are welcome to attend this event!
