Please join us in the historic burying ground at the Church on the Green on Memorial Day Sunday (May 28) at 1:30 pm as we and the Morristown Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) dedicate a new marker and celebrate the life and accomplishments of Dr. Jabez Campfield.
Dr. Campfield (1737 – 1821) was a member of our congregation, a Morristown doctor, a Revolutionary War surgeon, and a leading citizen of Morristown. Church records tell us that in 1790 he was appointed to the building committee for the second church building, completed in 1795. Dr. Campfield’s home, originally on Morris Street, now called the Schuyler-Hamilton House, has been owned and maintained by the Morristown Chapter of the DAR for the past 100 years.
The celebration will include a tribute to Dr. Campfield, music from the NJ Fifes and Drums, and a Revolutionary War color guard, followed by a reception hosted by the DAR and the Presbyterian Church.
