During this season of Advent, in every aspect of our worship and programming, we are contemplating the concept of “A Weary World Rejoices.” There is undoubtedly much to rejoice about: we are gifted with wonderful family and friends, we have fun and joyful programs we can participate in, and most of us are blessed with homes and delicious food to eat. Other times, each of us has moments where we are feeling more weary than joyful. We are called to name these feelings, especially when we are going through a difficult season of life, whether because of the loss of loved one or job, lack of direction, difficult family relationships, mental illness, or at a loss about what to do to help a hurting world.
That is what our Longest Night service is all about.
