Screens, Students, and the Search for Belonging
On March 3, we welcomed a panel of Morristown community members and educators to explore how digital devices and online social platforms are shaping the lives of children and teens. Today’s technologies offer incredible opportunities — yet they can also fuel social withdrawal, anxiety, and digital dependency that hinder healthy growth.
Our community experts shared what they’re seeing in local schools, how they empower students to push back against digital overuse, and what practical strategies students and their families can adopt. Together, we examined how the online world can both erode connection and create new avenues for belonging — and what it takes to help young people thrive in an age of loneliness.
Panelists:
- Mark Manning | Principal, Morristown High School
- Dr. Jennifer Giordano | Director of School Counseling and Mental Health Services, Morristown Public Schools
- Yesenia Cardona | TRAIL Program Clinician
- Adia Harris | Cornerstone Family Programs
- Richard Schwartz (Moderator) | Retired Public School Educator
