- Barbara King, May 10, 2022, aged 90. Barbara joined PCM on March 30, 1958. She was ordained as an elder on February 14, 1999. She was PCM’s church administrator for 23 years. An invaluable resource for the Heritage Room and PCM’s history, Barbara helped author the church history for our 275th anniversary and was the long-time moderator of Circle 12. (#2853)

Session Approved the Following:
~ Baptism of Infant on June 12, 2022.
~ Expanding the Alcohol Policy to include serving liquor at third party events using the PCM facilities at the Parish House. Each event must be approved by Building & Grounds. Event users must carry one million dollars of liability coverage and our event planner Kraft Management also has the same insurance coverage.
~ The suspension of the 8:00 a.m. Sunday worship services in the Chapel for the months of June, July, and August.
~ The display of a Pride flag for the month of June.
Presbytery Happenings and Information:
~ The May 10th presbytery meeting was held via zoom. Commissioned elders for this meeting were: Dianne Grenz, and Dick Kaller. (As a former moderator of presbytery, Clerk of Session Wendy Doidge is also a voting member at all presbytery meetings).
~ Two new ministers were introduced: Rev. Marie Branigan, interim pastor at Ringoes and Hannah Faye Allred who will be ordained on May 22 at Kitchell Memorial in East Hanover.
~ Brad Masters, financial advisor for New Covenant Trust presented information about their services to churches and presbyteries.
~ Rev. Ian Rankine and RE Suzanne Soos, both from Pluckemin, spoke about the expansion plans of their “hub of caring” for their community by rethinking the use of their large tract of land (6.5 acres), three of which are undeveloped.
~ RE John Hellreigel (Chester) gave an update on the Nairobi Partnership.
~ Two Administrative Commissions completed their work: 1. dissolution of the Martinsville Presbyterian Church (its members now attending the Bound Brook Church), 2. the Pompton Valley Church sold its property to another Christian denomination. With some of the proceeds from the sale, Highlands Presbytery is contributing $100,000 to Johnsonburg Camp and Retreat Center for its capital campaign and another $100K is being used for technology resources and support, to enable congregations to develop and enhance their online worship presence.
~ Delegates to the 225th General Assembly were commissioned: RE Scott Riker, Highlands Presbyterian Church, Rev. Katherine Scott-Kirschen, First Pres Sussex, Rev. David Young, First Pres Newton, and RE Robert Zeh, First Pres Flemington.
~ Camp Johnsonburg director Elise Bates Russell spoke to the group, expressing her thanks for the100K gift from the sale of Pompton Valley Presbyterian Church. Associate director Tommy Campbell was introduced.
~ Melanie Williams was approved to move from Inquirer to Candidate. She attends First Pres in Sparta.
