Love First

In a world that seems increasingly divided, distracted, and afraid, what would it mean to love first? Not as a sentimental idea or a way of avoiding hard truths, but as a distinctly Christian way of seeing the world – and one another.

In the weeks leading up to the election, the Gospel of Matthew invites us to imagine a different way of being human. Jesus tells stories about invitations that reach beyond the expected guest list, reminds us that every human being bears the image of God, reduces the complexity of faith to two simple commandments – love God and love your neighbor – and speaks blessing over people the world might overlook.

To love first is to make room. To see God’s image in every person. To let love reorder what matters most. And to stay present with one another, even when life is painful.
This fall, we’ll ask what might happen if love became the first thing we do, the first thing we look for, and the first way we see.

Love First. Because this is how Jesus teaches us to live.
