A Special Celebration of All Hallows Eve

A Message from Jacob

Dear friends,

To those of you I’ve met and to those of you I haven’t had the pleasure, thank you so much for welcoming me into your beautiful church family to serve as your Director of Music Ministries here at PCM! Your expressions of kindness, enthusiasm, and passion for ministry are truly infectious – I couldn’t ask to be in a better place. We are so blessed here at PCM to have such enthusiastic musical talent and appreciation for it.

As a special celebration for Halloween, while we watch the 1925 film, The Phantom of the Opera, renowned British organist, David Baskeyfield will perform the soundtrack! As technology at the time did not have the capacity to include audio with film, it became common practice for organists to improvise, or spontaneously compose the soundtrack for films. This necessity instigated the dramatic, albeit brief, rise of “theater organs.” We invite you to join us on Friday, November 1 at 7:30 pm, in the Sanctuary for this special premiere of David’s incredible talents in Morristown. No two performances are the same – it’s not an event to miss! Suggested donations, $20 Adults, $10 Seniors & Students.

Baskeyfield first studied Law at Oxford University, before pursuing his Master’s and Doctoral degrees from the Eastman School of Music, where he also served as faculty. After receiving first prize in numerous international competitions in performance and improvisation, David now serves as Artistic Director of the East Carolina Musical Arts and Education foundation, as well as the Organist and Choirmaster at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Greenville, NC. Commended for his “masterful artistry” (The Diapason) and “stunning virtuosity and musicality” (Choir and Organ), David is one of relatively few organists to improvise in recital.

I hope you can join us for this special celebration of All Hallows Eve, as we transition into the celebration of All Saints on November 3 – the celebration of all the disciples of Christ, both known and unknown.

With humble thanks,
Jacob
