Unwavering Faith in God’s Care

It was February 15 years ago that I underwent triple bypass surgery. I’d had an outpatient procedure previously, but this time, it was a heart attack requiring open-heart surgery.
The following day, my daughter, my sister, a nurse, my brother, and an attorney arrived. For background – I did not have a current will. Out of concern, my brother asked me where I wanted to be buried. I replied: “I am not going to die.” “Well, if the surgery does not go well what do you want us to do?” I responded, “Bury me in Gate of Heaven above the ground.” My brother suggested a codicil to make sure my wishes were implemented. I agreed.
As luck would have it, the date of my operation was rescheduled from Friday to Monday, so I had an entire weekend to worry about it. I thought, why burden myself? I decided to pray and put my fears to rest as I placed my “Unwavering Faith in God’s Care.”
