Why First Impressions Matter

A Message from Daniel

Dear PCM Family,

It’s hard to believe, but according to people who study these things, first-time guests to churches usually make up their minds whether they’re coming back or not in the first ten minutes of their visit. Sometimes, before they’ve heard the first note of music or the first word of the sermon or even before anyone stands up and says, “Welcome,” from the pulpit, most first-time guests have already made a conscious or subconscious decision about whether they’re coming back.

That’s why our Welcome Team here at PCM is so important! The Welcome Team is the first point of contact we have with guests who visit our church. Their hospitality helps ensure that we are connecting with each person who attends on a Sunday morning, and that all are warmly greeted, as if we’re welcoming guests into our own home. When newcomers need information about the church or where they can find a restroom or where to take their children or how they can become involved, it’s the Welcome Team that’s there to make those connections.

So, I’m writing today with an invitation from Betty Darcy, who helps to coordinate the Welcome Team here at PCM:

The Welcome Team is recruiting people to serve… and it is one of the easiest (but most important) jobs! We will have training for current and new volunteers before our return to COG on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 9:00 am. If you are interested in serving, please sign up by clicking here.

If you have the gift of hospitality and a willingness to serve, we’d be so grateful to have you join our Welcome Team. Thanks for considering taking part in this important ministry of the church.

In Christ’s love,
Daniel
